Debra Plousha-Moore is one of the nation's foremost authorities in the fields of executive advising, governance, diversity and inclusion, leadership development, human resources, and organizational strategy. Debra is a nationally-recognized executive officer with over 35 years of experience, including 30 years with not-for-profit boards.
Giving back to up-and-coming leaders is a passion of Ms. Plousha-Moore’s.
2020 represented her fourth year in the Executive in Residence Program at Queens. Also last year, Debra joined the University of North Carolina, Gillings School of Public Health as a Guest Lecturer in the Department of Public health and Management.
In 2018, she successfully launched and continues to operate an executive-level advisory practice for C-Suite executives (Plousha Moore Group).
During her career, she served as Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff/Chief Human Resources Officer for Atrium Health ($9.6B annual revenue, 65,000+ employees), served as SVP for Human Resources and Organizational Development for OhioHealth, and is the former VP of Human Resources and Organizational Development for Genesys Health System. She began her illustrious career as the Associate Dean of Students at the University of Dayton.
Corporate governance contributions including facilitator to Atrium Health Board of Commissioners, engaged in governance, executive compensation, and human capital oversight and assistance with Atrium Health System’s board executive search committee during the recruitment of a new President and CEO.
Debra is respected for her collaborative and inclusive leadership style that bridges multiple disciplines and industries to foster innovative solutions. Among her many accomplishments, Debra led successful Associate Engagement efforts to become honored on the coveted Fortune list of 100 Best Places to Work, Modern Healthcare Magazine, and Forbes America’s Best Employers and established nationally recognized employee-based programs including: Associate Health and Wellness Program; Corporate University; Veterans Program; and award-winning Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program
Recognitions for her work come from a variety of areas including: Charlotte Business-Woman of the Year (Queens University of Charlotte), the Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Excellence Award (United Negro College Fund), the Leadership Excellence Award (National Diversity Council), the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Award (Urban League of Central Carolinas), and the Girl Scouts Woman of Distinction, Life Time Achievement Award – Hornets’ Nest Council, Charlotte, North Carolina.
Being an active community member has always been a priority for Ms. Plousha-Moore. Most recently, she served on the Board of Directors for Fifth Third Bank, North Carolina and on the Board of Trustees at the University of Dayton. Additional past affiliations include the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and Bennett College. Ms. Plousha-Moore co-chaired the successful Charlotte/Mecklenburg School System Successful Bond Initiative to raise $922M and served in the Global Ambassador Program (GAP) mentor program for Bank of America.
A graduate of San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, she earned a Master of Science degree in education from the University of Dayton. Ms. Plousha-Moore has been married for 46 years to Colonel John E. Moore, Jr., USAF (Ret.). She and John have two married sons, John E. Moore, III and Phillip Plousha Moore. They have been blessed with four grandchildren.
